XD I bought, I played, I defeated.
Here's my Review of F.E.A.R.
FEAR is a FPS game (duh) but has a Horror/movie likeness to the game.
Think of DOOM3 Plus The RING plus Resident EVIL with an odd Title..
First Encounter Assualt Recon, isn't that a oximoron? Anyway..
So you're a soldier from the FEAR group (who delves into paranormal activities.) and obviously you're a bad ass guy. High reflexes, great shooter, smart.. etc.. a perfect soldier (You can think Metal Gear Solid I geuss) and well there's this weird guy named Fettel who basically raised an army of cloned soldiers and you and your team (who never helps so you're always alone) go out and investigate it..
I would go deeper but I don't want to spoil the SL (storyline).
Graphics - Wonderful they put the awe in awesome you can say. With a good graphics card (I got the GT7800) it will make you drool.
Gameplay- Well it reminded me of CS but added more to it. You can have tactics (some chosen for you) to kill enemies off and what not, the weapons are great but very fictional (kinda hard to think 2002-200X was when FEAR started and these weapons are around) but fun indeed.
SL- The storyline is confusing at first. But you will understand it because they spell it out for you at the end. But it's very Linear (what FPS isn't?) in how you have to move along through out the game.
Some things I thought were cheesy... SPOILER:
HTML Code:
<font color="#ffffff">
Like wise the fat guy who reminded me the fat guy in Jurassic Park... and the Alice Wade girl who goes after her father but ends up getting... well you know. Plus other little cheesy things to really push it along to get to the end of the game, chase afgter this person even though it's hopeless because no matter what you're too late. Also.. well the end of the game wasn't so great to me cause I kinda figured it out at the end before fettel tells you everything.
</font>
I was hoping there would be some kind of 'boss' at the end of the game but nothing really happened I just... ran and shoot some things and it was The End already.
Sound - Wonderful as well hearing glass break, moans, screams, dialog, the cursing etc. made it feel I was actually there.
Enemies - The A.I. system was very good. But it was sad that they couldn't figure out doors.. They wouldn't open them or blast through the window.. they tried but you could get away easily. so.. they were kinda dumbstruck and beaten if you had a door in the way. Anything else... they WILL come after you at a certain point. If you back track too much they'll stay where they are and don't bother following in pursuit (Which I geuss seeing a guy who took out 3/4 of a battalion of my partner I would say "No Way" when someone told me to "check it out". XD The convo between the enemies was very fun throwing a grenade to their face and their reaction saying "Oh.. Shi-" and turn into bloody pulp. Plus the breaking through glass made it earier to kill them but it was cool when they sneaked up behind me and killed me without me know at times. Overall I think they did an awesome job.
Other thoughts - FEAR was a short, fun game to play. It had it's very creepy moments but after you play it long enough you can pinpoint when something is going to happen so it kinda wore off. The SL is decent and twisted in a sick way, actually not hard to figure out. A good buy.
Multiplayer- good fast and fun.. but no Buddy system?
Question: Remember the White Bald guy who was your partner in the very beginning? What happened to him.. I thought he just died but I didn't noticed anything about that.

MPlayer was fun, but runs drie after awhile... F.E.A.R's levels and AI where like the same everywhere. Nothing really new enough to keep anyone intrested. The point of the game is... Well I have yet to find out... Just seems to me your killing these clones to get to some "Truth". I really think the story lined lacked and they just tossed in some extra gorey cut sceans to keep people hooked on finding out what happens next.
I would rate this game 5.5/10 only because I enjoyed MPlayer for like 3 hours.

My friend downloaded it for free. He was going to give me a copy, but I havent gotten around to it.
I saw him play it for a bit, but his nagging gf forced me out. It looked pretty spiffy though!

I got it from Gamespot, but that perk costs me twenty bucks a year.
Try www.sierra.com and get it directly from their site. Pretty sure that is the actual demo, as they have both the single player and multi-player demos listed for download.

that's the first place that i tried...both turned into a gig's worth of advertisements. once i tried loading them up, the program closed down and loaded up a web page advertising the full version.....frustrated me to no end.

Now that the game has been released, maybe they are afraid some people won't like it, or that their systems won't run it. I got mine way before the release date.

Many people have had problems with the DEMO Versions, the only real way to try it is to play it off a Friends Copy, unless you would like to buy it and hope its good. To tell you the truth it isn't a long term game that you'll want to play for a month, everything is like a repeat... Same troops, same level types, same everything. So your not missing out on much...

That's true. The multiplayer is fun but only holds you if you you have nonthing else to do.

Night is teh downloadzorz it!
Hope it's doesn't end up turning out to be a bunch of ads though
EDIT: I just played it. Graphics were terrible because I put all the settings down so low, and it still lagged like crazy. AI was the best I've ever seen in any game, I actually had to use the HP kits. It was a challenge taking on 2 or 3 guys at a time, whereas in HL2, I could take out 7-8 Combine without getting hit simply by sitting behind a wall and waiting for them to walk around the corner one by one. Their aim was good (much better than most CS players) and they used cover very well (ie not trying to hide behind 3 inch wide lightpoles like in HL2). It would have been nice to change fire modes, I didn't like not being able to use semi-auto on the assault rifles.
I only played the demo, so I can't really say anything about the storyline. That one part with the ghost and the girl (in the hall) scared me so much that I spun around and emptied the entire magazine before I realized I couldn't hit her XD

I've been playing FEAR on the extreme and it feels like the difficulty hasn't changed at all =( MAybe because I already beat it and know where they pop out and know what they do (and abusing slowmo and doors =) ) It didn't seem that difficult. No yet

The easiest way to lose the "FEAR" of the game, "F.E.A.R." is too just sit in one place, and have the enemies gruesomely own you.
After a while, you'll realize that it's not all that bad.
That's how I got over my chills when playing Resident Evil at 1:00 A.M. in complete darkness.

F.E.A.R is deffinently one of the best game si have ever played. Deffinently scares the crap out of you though. I would not reccomend it for someone with a nervous disposition.

Yea it does have a scary story line and features, but that was the only thing keeping me playing. Just to find out what happens next. Muiltyplayer kinda died out after awhile. If you look online barley anyone plays, I really hate to say this but I think this game has failed... Online big time when only 200 people are on at one time, most of them away from keyboard however. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.

I find people who still play online and hasn't gotten old on me. I prefer to play FEAR online than HL2 deathmatch.. I just go the game and the multiplayer was boring as well not many people to talk (I like it when people talk while they games makes the game more interesting) HL2 the game itself is fun but I can find myself reselling it after I'm done beating it.. =P
